OWNER + FOUNDER
As a young girl in Spanish Town, Jamaica, Pat Marrett has always been curious about food preparation and experimenting with various flavors and tastes. Through her dining experiences with her father, she discovered the diversity of food and further realized the transcending power of flavor. The more she learned about food, the more she reflected on her roots and upbringing specifically her Grandmother, “Mother Coops”. Pat’s Grandmother played a key role in inspiring her view of food as a vehicle of grace and giving. She found through sharing food experiences allowed her to connect to others in an impactful way. This compelled Pat to equip herself with the knowledge and confidence needed to share her passion and creativity. A graduate of the CUNY Kingsborough Culinary Program, she advanced her experience in the food industry as a chef in New York City. In 2018, she worked with a non-profit in creating programs that empowered inner-city teens to not only learn cooking skills but also to help shape confidence around food equity and nutrition. Pat finds no greater joy than her experience through catering and providing great food experiences for others. Spanish Town Kitchen has been a way to extend her values, inspiration, passion, and love for what makes food special to a wider audience.
